The State Government would provide land to rehabilitate the flash floods affected families of Baggi in Mandi district and the new Panchayat Bhawan, which was swept away in the flood would be re-constructed. Besides, adequate funds would be provided for construction of bridge over the Baggi Nallah. This was stated by Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh while addressing gathering at Baggi in Darang assembly constituency of Mandi district today.
He also visited the flood affected area of Baggi and directed the concerned department to repair the road and take necessary measures to construct a bridge thereupon.
He said that Himachal Pradesh was known as Dev Bhoomi as many famous temples and holy lakes nestle in its lap, therefore, it becomes necessary to develop such places and provide them connectivity with roads so as to promote religious tourism in the State.
The Chief Minister announced Rs 10 lakh for completion of the additional rooms in Government Senior Secondary School and other construction works. He said that provision would be made to construct a small stadium in the school ground and announced a sum of Rs 5 lakh for the same. He directed to restore the Shegli-Mandha road damaged in floods immediately.
He also announced Rs 10,000 for the school children for presenting cultural programme on the occasion.
Health and Revenue Minister Shri Kaul Singh Thakur while welcoming the Chief Minister to his assembly segment said that construction work on Shegli-Prashar road, for which Rs 6.50 crore has been allocated, should be started at the earliest which would go a long way in promoting religious tourism in the region as famous Rishi Prashar Lake falls in this area.
He demanded additional financial assistance for boundary wall of the Government Senior Secondary School Baggi and for construction of additional rooms for the school. He also urged the Chief Minister for restoration of Baggi- Mandah road in Gram Panchayat Shegli.
DCC President Puran Chand Thakur also spoke on the occasion.
Shri Kanshi Ram Pradhan Gram Panchayat Shegli Baggi welcomed and honoured the Chief Minister on the occasion. He also demanded construction of Baggi bridge which was swept away in the recent floods.
Chairman SC/ST Corporation Shri Tek Chand Dogra, President Block Congress Committee, Shri Joginder Singh Guleria and the representatives of the area were also present on the occasion among others.
