The cold wave has intensified after snowfall in the high altitude areas of Kashmir, Ladakh. Night temperature remains below zero in most parts of Kashmir Valley, Srinagar recorded a temperature of 2.2 degrees below zero, while Pahalgam remained the coldest where the temperature at night was 4.8 degrees below zero, meteorologists have already warned of the effect of La Nina. Gulmarg remained the coldest area of the valley with a minimum temperature of -2.9 degrees Celsius.
Let us tell you that the Meteorological Department has predicted no significant change in the weather conditions in the valley till December 10, except for the possibility of light snowfall and rain at some places.
According to the latest forecast of the Meteorological Department, the Western Disturbance will be active again on December 8. Snowfall may occur in the high altitude areas of the state for four days and rain at some places in the plains. However, the weather will remain clear for three days before that. In such a situation, farmers are expected to get some relief. The weather remained clear in the state on Wednesday. The lowest temperature in the state was recorded at -6.4 degrees Celsius in Tabo of Lahaul-Spiti and the highest at 28.8 degrees Celsius in Una.
The Lahaul-Spiti administration held a virtual meeting with the Leh and Kargil administration to prepare a plan to send tourists beyond Jispah and Koksar in Lahaul. Permission has been granted to travel towards Leh-Ladakh till December 7. People can travel beyond Jispah from 9 am to 1 pm. After December 7, movement beyond Jispah will be closed.
It was decided to stop movement beyond Koksar towards Gramphoo and Kaza. Tourists coming to Kullu, Manali can now see snow for three days. Tourist spot Jingjingbar has been opened for tourists. The Lahaul-Spiti administration has given permission.
