China Urges India and Pakistan to Deescalate Tensions Amid Rising Border Conflicts

INVC NEWS Beijing – China has expressed grave concern over the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, urging both nations to act in the larger interest of peace and stability. The Chinese Foreign Ministry, represented by spokesperson Lin Jian, called for both countries to exercise restraint and avoid actions that could further exacerbate the situation. At a press briefing on Thursday, Lin reiterated China’s commitment to working with the international community to help reduce tensions and ensure peace in the region.

China’s Call for Restraint Amid Rising Border Clashes

Lin Jian emphasized that China is deeply concerned about the ongoing developments, stressing that India and Pakistan, as neighbors, must prioritize stability. “India and Pakistan will always remain neighbors,” Lin stated, highlighting the enduring relationship between the two nations. He reaffirmed that China stands against all forms of terrorism and urged both countries to abide by international laws, particularly the UN Charter, to prevent any further escalation of violence.

China’s diplomatic stance reflects its interest in maintaining peace not only between India and Pakistan but also within the larger South Asian region, where tensions have been building for decades. Lin’s remarks come as both countries are engaged in a series of retaliatory military actions, exacerbating the volatility of an already tense situation.

The Aftermath of the Pahalgam Terror Attack: Operation Sindoor

The renewed conflict between India and Pakistan comes after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22, 2025. In response to the attack, the Indian Armed Forces carried out a series of strategic strikes on May 7, targeting nine terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. This operation, named “Operation Sindoor,” was a direct retaliation against the Pakistani-backed militants responsible for the Pahalgam attack.

The Indian Army’s precision strikes were successful in neutralizing key terrorist infrastructure, sending a strong message about India’s zero-tolerance policy toward terrorism. During the midnight hours between May 8 and May 9, the Indian Army also responded decisively to multiple drone attacks launched by Pakistan. These attacks were aimed at undermining India’s security but were effectively thwarted by India’s defense systems.

India’s Strategic Counteroffensive: Drones and Ceasefire Violations

On the night of May 8, Pakistan’s military attempted to launch several drone attacks and violated the ceasefire multiple times along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir. The Indian Army, under Operation Sindoor, not only neutralized the drones but also delivered a robust response to Pakistan’s attempts to breach the ceasefire. According to sources from the Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADG PI), the drone attacks were “effectively neutralized,” and Pakistan’s violations were met with a strong military response.

Furthermore, the Indian Army successfully shot down over 50 Pakistani drones during a major counter-drone operation along the LoC and the International Border. This operation was triggered by Pakistan’s failed attempt to send swarm drones into Indian territory at various locations. The swift action by Indian forces sent a clear message to Pakistan that any acts of aggression would be met with strong retaliation.

Pakistan’s Failed Attack on India: Military Response and Border Security

Despite multiple attempts to launch drone strikes and violate the ceasefire, Pakistan’s attacks failed on all fronts. The Indian Armed Forces’ preparedness and rapid response were key factors in neutralizing the threat. The Indian military’s operational efficiency during the heightened tensions has been a point of pride for the nation, demonstrating the country’s readiness to defend its sovereignty against external aggression.

The situation along the western border remains highly volatile, with the Indian Army on high alert and prepared to respond to any further provocations. In addition to the drone strikes, Pakistani forces have been repeatedly violating the ceasefire along the LoC, but the Indian military has been vigilant and determined in its efforts to safeguard the nation’s territorial integrity.

Pakistan’s Diplomatic Maneuvers Amid Rising Military Clashes

Pakistan’s response to India’s military actions has been both defensive and diplomatic. Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has been vocal about the nation’s stance, claiming that madrasa children have been stepping forward for the defense of the country. His controversial remarks have stirred debate in Pakistan, with critics questioning the use of religious institutions in military matters.

Asif also spoke about Pakistan’s response to India’s drone attacks, claiming that while some drones were spotted in Pakistani airspace, the military refrained from shooting them down to avoid further escalation. According to Asif, shooting down the drones could have led to a larger conflict with India, causing significant damage to Pakistan. He added that no major losses were sustained by Pakistan during these drone incidents, but the situation remains delicate.

International Community’s Role in Mitigating Escalation

As the tensions continue to rise, the international community, including China, has called for both India and Pakistan to refrain from actions that could further escalate the conflict. China’s commitment to supporting peace and stability in the region remains strong, with the Chinese Foreign Ministry pledging to work alongside global stakeholders to deescalate the situation.

However, the diplomatic pressure from China has not deterred the ongoing military actions between the two nations. The escalating violence on the border, coupled with the heavy use of drones and artillery, underscores the volatile nature of the relationship between India and Pakistan. Both nations have a long history of conflict, and the current crisis shows no signs of abating in the near future.

The Road Ahead: A Fragile Peace and Growing Tensions

The conflict between India and Pakistan remains a volatile issue, with the potential for further escalation. While both sides claim to be defending their sovereignty, the use of drones, missile strikes, and ceasefire violations points to a broader military strategy aimed at asserting dominance. The role of international diplomacy will be crucial in preventing a full-scale conflict and ensuring that both nations pursue peaceful resolutions to their disputes.

As tensions continue to rise, the call for restraint and dialogue becomes more urgent. The international community, led by China and other stakeholders, will need to exert pressure on both India and Pakistan to ensure that the situation does not spiral out of control. The next few weeks will be critical in determining whether both nations can move toward a peaceful resolution or whether the cycle of aggression will continue.
