Chhath, the great festival of worship of Lord Bhaskar, has started doing not only Hindu but now Muslim women also. The growing faith on Chhath Mayyan is making the common man so happy that people are considering themselves happy after doing this festival.

Dozens of Muslim women along with Hindu women have observed the Nirjala fast of Chhath, the great festival of faith and belief, in most villages in Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh. These women performed Chhath Puja by fasting with faith. By offering Arghya to the setting sun on Sunday, it made the festival more special by law. Not only this, for almost 20 years, a 65-year-old Muslim woman is also observing the Nirjala fast of Chhath.

According to the information, Muslim women of Amwa Khas, Dashwa, Rampur Barhan and other gram panchayats of Dudahi development block of Kushinagar have so much faith in Chhath Mayyan that they too are now observing Nirjala fast. Hasantara Khatoon, a resident of Dashwa village, 65 years of age, has been observing Chhath fast for the last 20 years. Hasantara says that her family used to be very sad because of not having grandchildren. The daughter-in-law was also treated by doctors, but she did not get any benefit. The women of the village advised him that once he fasts for Chhath with a sincere heart, then he will definitely get its fruits. After observing Chhath fast in the first year itself, a small guest arrived in the house. Since then she is observing Chhath fast.

The story is not only one, many women have become a witness to the miracle of Chhath Mayyan. A 42-year-old Johri Khatoon from the same village has four daughters. He also started the fast of Chhath for the wish of a son. A few years later she gave birth to two sons. Johri says that she will keep Chhath fast till the last stage of her life. Dashwa residents Aisun Khatun, Cameron Nesha, Zulekha, Rampur Barhan residents Zohra Begum, Santulia Bano and Zaharina Begum have also been observing Chhath fast for the past many years with faith and belief.

Zaharina says that when she wanted to observe Chhath fast, her husband refused. Since then, he started being seriously ill. When I started the fast on his request, my husband also got well and time is passing happily. PLC/GT
