Anna Hazare’s Sharp Criticism of Arvind Kejriwal After AAP’s Electoral Setback
AAP’s Declining Performance in Delhi Assembly Elections
The Delhi Assembly election results have delivered a significant blow to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), with the party trailing in several constituencies. The early trends indicate that Arvind Kejriwal, the chief ministerial candidate, is struggling to secure his position in New Delhi’s Assembly seat. These unexpected setbacks have drawn reactions from various political and social figures, including veteran activist Anna Hazare.
Anna Hazare’s Scathing Remarks on Kejriwal’s Leadership
Renowned social activist Anna Hazare, once a mentor to Arvind Kejriwal during the India Against Corruption movement, did not hold back in his criticism. Hazare emphasized that political leaders must maintain a clean image, impeccable character, and selfless devotion to public service to earn the trust of the electorate.
“I have always said that a candidate’s conduct, thoughts, and lifestyle must be pure, free from any taint of corruption. Only such qualities instill confidence in the people,” Hazare stated.
Taking a direct dig at Kejriwal, Hazare remarked that he had repeatedly advised him on maintaining ethical leadership, but his words went unheeded. According to Hazare, Kejriwal lost focus and became entangled in controversies surrounding alcohol policies. He suggested that Kejriwal had become “obsessed with wealth and power”, which ultimately alienated him from the electorate.
