Violence continues to increase in Honduras, a country located in Central America. More than 20 people have been killed overnight in separate attacks. In view of this, the government decided to impose curfew in two northern cities.

Edgardo Barhona said armed men opened fire on Saturday night at a billiards hall in the neighborhood of the northern manufacturing town of Choloma. Where 13 people died in this. At the same time, another was seriously injured. At least 11 other people died in separate incidents in the northern Valle de Sula region on Saturday, including in the industrial town of San Pedro Sula, he said.

The President immediately announced the imposition of curfew in view of the increasing violence in the city. Announced 15 days curfew between 9 pm and 4 am in Choloma with immediate effect. At the same time, the curfew in San Pedro Sula will be effective from July 4.

Castro said several campaigns, raids, occupations and blockades have been carried out to control the violence. It also announced a cash reward of $32,707 for information leading to the identification and apprehension of those responsible for the murders in Choloma. A partial state of emergency has been in force in parts of Honduras since December to deal with internecine wars.

The security minister announced later on Sunday that the government would send a proposal to Congress in the coming days to designate those involved in violence as terrorists. Sanchez said more than 1,000 police and army troops were being sent to the Sula Valley to bring the situation under control. Choloma and San Pedro Sul are located in the Sula Valley.

At least 41 women were killed in a recent riot at a women’s prison in Honduras. Honduras’ national police investigative agency said riots and violence broke out at the women’s prison in Tamara, about 50 kilometers northwest of Tegucigalpa. Most of the women died due to burns.
