The war between Israel and Hamas has been going on for more than a year. At the same time, the flames of this war have reached Lebanon and Iran. Meanwhile, attacks have intensified once again. South Beirut was devastated on Monday in an Israeli attack. Officials have claimed that 31 people have been killed here. However, amid all this, the US says that a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah can be reached soon. It is very close. But the talks are still going on.
The Israeli army said on Monday afternoon that it targeted about 25 locations associated with Hezbollah in Lebanon, including Nabatiyeh, Baalbek, Bekaa Valley and southern Beirut and the outskirts of the city. At the same time, smoke clouds are visible in the southern suburbs of the capital in viral pictures on social media. Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency (NANA) reported a fourth wave of Israeli attacks in south Beirut on Monday evening, saying: “Enemy fighter jets launched attacks on the Haret Hreik and Shia districts.”
The attacks came after heavy raids in the area over the weekend despite an ongoing international ceasefire effort. At least 29 people were killed in a deadly attack in the densely populated Basta area of central Beirut early Saturday, the health ministry said. The Israeli military said on Monday it had attacked a Hezbollah command center there, although an official with the Iran-backed group denied reports that a senior member had been targeted. Media reports reported Israeli attacks on Tyre and Nabatiyeh after Israel issued an evacuation warning for parts of the main southern cities. Lebanon’s health ministry said at least 31 people were killed in Israeli attacks on Monday.
Kirby did not confirm reports in Saudi media that Biden and French President Emmanuel Macron were set to announce an agreement on Tuesday, saying only that the two leaders had talked about the Israel-Hezbollah conflict last week. The US believes a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah is ‘close’, but negotiations are still ongoing. National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said, ‘We believe we have reached a point where we are close. He said, ‘We believe the agreement is going in a very positive direction, but nothing will be done until everything is done, nothing will be negotiated until everything is negotiated.
